The Little Merman - Part 7 The pirates caught Mariel the mermaid in their fishing nets. Pirate James wants to put her back in the ocean so she can return home.
This story takes a dramatic turn at this point when the pirates celebrate the capture of Mariel in their fishing nets. They are excited that they can finally prove mermaids exist, since they have been laughed at before. At this point James must do something to save her, because he feels connected with the ocean. This scene establishes his motivation for the rest of the story.
The mermaid in a net was hung on one of the floor lamps I used to light the set. The Silly Puppets small 14’ and large 25” pirate puppets were used for the father and son characters. You will see this again with the mother and daughter mermaid puppets.
