The Little Merman - Part 13 The pirates, James and Ben, make a plan to trick the captain into taking the witch on an ocean cruise on his pirate ship.
When I wrote this story, I wanted to make sure James was a flawed character. This is the first time he is conniving. He is happy to deceive Ben’s dad to allow the witch on their ship. You could say at this point he is “blinded by love”, or just a silly pirate.
I shot this scene between James and Ben many times because I could not get it right. Finally, I decided to insert close ups of Ben to cover the parts that didn’t work. Whenever you see two puppets together, please understand it’s a challenge to keep their focus on each other, stay in frame, and say their lines in character correctly. It takes many attempts to get something that works.
