The Little Merman - Part 1 - James is a pirate who dreams of living under the sea swimming with sharks!
This episode introduces us to the main character James. He is one of many pirate puppets in the show. The puppets come from Folkmanis Puppets, Sunny Toys, and Melissa & Doug. The background is a traditional photo backdrop. It’s not perfect for close-ups, but I don’t like the artificial look from green screens.
The voices for this show were a bit of a challenge because I only have one “pirate” voice, so I had to improvise and make them a bit less exaggerated. James is mostly my voice. Sometimes when I’m doing voice work, I struggle to remember which one is my usual voice. At times, after a day of shooting, I think to myself “how do I normally talk”? I’ll discuss voice work more later.
