The Little Merman - Part 3 The sharks give Pirate James a tour of the ocean and introduce him to a couple of whales.
This episode establishes that James can speak to underwater creatures in addition to the crab and the crow/raven. This is a big moment for him. He now has validation that his dreams of swimming with sharks is as much fun as he imagined.
I love the shark and whale puppets seen in this episode. I don’t get to use them as often as other puppets, so I’m always happy when I can include them. The whales are from Folkmanis Puppets, the sharks are from Aurora World, and James the pirate is from Sunny Toys.
I’m very happy with how Pirate James looks when he swims to the surface. For these underwater scenes, I thought the water effect video filter gave this part a nice look. I chose the ‘ripple’ transition effect between scenes, because it added to the underwater feel of this episode.
